CVLL offers several levels of baseball for children who reside in Malvern and Willistown. Children ranging in age from 5 to 18 can take advantage of our baseball programs. The league welcomes all to its games.
Rookie League
The Rookie League is an instructional league for boys and girls who are league age 6 and have spent one year in T-Ball. This is a non competitive league and coaches pitch to their own players. Practices begin in March with game play from April to June.
AA
The CVLL AA League is for boy's league ages 7 and 8. Girls can play in the league but are encouraged to play in the softball program. The format of play in AA is machine pitch. The boys learn the basics of fielding strategies and this is the first exposure to the strike-out for most of them. The season begins in April and ends in June. Two to three games per week are normal for the AA League. All AA games are played at the Mill Road Complex.
AAA
AAA is the beginning of genuine baseball for the boys. The players are league age 9 to 10 and have usually had some previous experience in Little League. The players see pitching from other boys for the first time. They also need to learn the strike zone since balls and strikes are called by volunteer umpires. AAA will also field one or two tournament teams that will engage in intra-district play. Two to three games a week are scheduled for each team. The regular season and playoffs will extend through the middle of June. Tournament play can extend the play into July.
Major League
CVLL Major League is the final level in Little League play. It consists of boy's league ages 11 to 12 and some exciting play can be seen here. This is the level that is televised at the Little League World Series in Williamsport, PA every August. The players in the Major League are representative of the finest young athletes from the area. The coaches at this level try to refine the skills that the boys have learned in their previous Little League experience. The season ends in mid-June with tournament beginning in late June and extending for at least a few weeks. The Major League plays its games at the Monument Ave. facility.
Junior Baseball League
Junior League baseball introduces boys ages 13 to 14 to the world of adult baseball. They play on a field with 90 foot base paths and a 60' pitching distance. Continuous batting is replaced with batting the 9 players currently in the lineup. Minimum play requirements of 2 innings and 1 at bat are common practice at this level. For this reason Junior baseball is split into two levels. Most 13 year old players and some 14 year old players play in the developmental division. This level concentrates on the changes from the small field to the big field and helps players improve their skills to become more adept and confident. The 2nd level is made up of mostly 14 yr. olds and is more competitive and concentrates on fine tuning a player's already developed skills. Home games are played at the Monument Ave. complex. The season will end in early June and tournament play can extend through July.
Senior Baseball League
The Senior Division consists of boys from 14 to 16 years of age. This level is a premiere baseball venue. The boys are young adults at this point and are capable of playing baseball that can catch the attention of the scouts. Their play is only eclipsed by certain school and independent teams at this age. The boys play all their home games at Monument Avenue on the Big Field. This season usually ends about June 1. There is usually a tournament team at this level.
Big League Baseball
Big League Baseball is the culmination of a player's Little league career. The players, all young men between the ages of 16 and 18, are the best Little Leaguers there are. This play is some of the best amateur athletics to be found. The next step for these players is college and, for those talented enough, professional baseball. The play is outstanding and the games are extremely competitive. The pitchers can throw at speeds approaching professional talent. The hitters are capable of launching a ball from the park at any time. These players begin their play in late May and end sometime in late July. Their home games are played at Monument Avenue.
